A PENSIONER and passionate home gardener, who hid her R65 million Lotto ticket under her bed before she claimed her prize, said the first person she shared the life-changing news with was her husband

The winner said she was overwhelmed when she discovered she had won and cried and prayed.

"It took time for it to sink in, but arriving at the Ithuba offices put me at ease.”

She revealed that she usually played the Lotto and PowerBall about twice a week and always chose the Quick Pick.

With plans already taking shape, the winner said she intended to purchase a plot of land to farm livestock, a long-held dream she was never able to pursue. 

“I have always loved working the land,” she said.

“Buying land to farm livestock has been a dream of mine, and now it can finally happen.”

The won the Lotto jackpot from draw number 2607 on Wednesday, December 31, 2025.

The winning ticket was purchased in Colesberg, Northern Cape, using a Quick Pick selection, with a R20 wager securing the life changing jackpot.
