TONIGHT marks a pivotal moment for hopeful South African lottery participants as the PowerBall jackpot soars to an estimated R177 million.

This draw is set to be the second-largest in the history of the South African National Lottery, an announcement made by Ithuba, the National Lottery operator, which has been at the helm of revitalising this popular gaming platform since 2015.

The current record jackpot stands at R232 million, which was won in 2019, also under Ithuba's  operation.

Ithuba CEO, Charmaine Mabuza, said the growing jackpots reflected the success of the organisation’s long-term vision to revitalise the National Lottery and create meaningful impact for participants and communities alike.

“We celebrate this jackpot as yet another National Lottery milestone under Ithuba's tenure. When we set out to reinvigorate the National Lottery in 2015, massive, life-changing jackpots were part of our objective. We are proud that we continue to break our own records, not only in jackpots, but also in our contribution towards good causes through the National Lotteries Distribution Trust Fund,” said Mabuza.

Ticket sales for tonight’s draw close at 8.30pm.
