Burned infant's body discovered at Brighton Beach on Bluff

THE body of an infant with extensive burn injuries was discovered by a passerby in a bush near the braai area at Brighton Beach on the Bluff, Durban.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the infant's death.

Garrith Jamieson, spokesperson for ALS Paramedics Medical Services, said the infant was found near the braai area. 

He said the infant, whose gender could be confirmed at this stage, was discovered by a passerby. 

“Paramedics assessed the infant who had sustained extensive injuries including burns, and unfortunately had passed away. The infant was declared deceased on the scene.

“At this stage the events leading up to this incident are unknown, however the police will be investigating further,” he said.
