ETHAN Naicker, KwaZulu-Natal's top matric achiever from Port Shepstone Secondary School, was honoured on the Get Real Talk Show with gifts worth R40 000 including a Kruger Coin, laptop and shopping vouchers.
The 18-year-old academic star, who earned 7 distinctions, is set to study medicine at UCT
Ethan was also one of the country’s top 40 achievers - the top pupil in Quintile 4 schools in the country, and top performer in the Ugu District.
Denver Naicker, the host of the talk show, said Ethan was given a memorable experience, which started with a chauffeured ride from his home in Port Shepstone to the Durban studio, setting the stage for a special occasion.
“Upon arrival, he was warmly greeted by the production team. Ethan shared insights into the challenges he faced and the strategies he employed to maintain motivation throughout his matric year. He expressed profound gratitude to his family; acknowledging their unwavering support over the years as his primary source of inspiration.
“He was presented with gifts valued at about R40 000 from various sponsors. These included a laptop, a Kruger coin, shopping vouchers, eyewear, movie vouchers, and car hire services."
Naicker added that their intention was to create a special experience for Ethan.
“He unequivocally merits the utmost recognition. This also marked our inaugural endeavour of this nature. I have always aspired to emulate Oprah Winfrey, and presenting these gifts to Ethan and witnessing his reaction was an invaluable experience. My team, Digital Productions, and I also extend our thanks to our sponsors who made it possible.”
The other sponsors were Chatsworth Superspar, Eye Boutique, Numetro and Woodford Car Hire.
Ethan said he was grateful to have been invited to the talk show and thanked the sponsors for the gifts.
"I was quite taken aback and am extremely grateful."
