AFTER months of evading authorities and tormenting Phoenix residents, a serial housebreaker responsible for multiple break-ins at Shastri Park homes has finally been apprehended.
Security officials tracked the suspect to Sportpark area where he made one last unsuccessful attempt to flee.
The man had evaded authorities for several months before he was caught by security officers from KZN VIP Protection Services yesterday (Wednesday).
“The suspect was wanted in connection with multiple housebreaking incidents where her repeatedly tormenting Shastri Park families.
“His arrest came after we received information from informers and actively worked on leads regarding his whereabouts.
“He was tracked to the Sportpark area in Phoenix yesterday. When we located him and moved in, he tried to flee, but despite his attempts to evade us, he was successfully apprehended,” said Gareth Naidoo, spokesperson for KZN VIP Protection Services.
He said the suspect was positively linked to numerous incidents and had been captured multiple times on CCTV footage during the break-ins.
“He is known to have repeatedly targeted residents in the area, often fleeing towards the Zwelithsa area, making prior attempts to locate him unsuccessful.
“He has stolen household items and appliances, and has been targeting some homes more than once. His arrest brings much-needed relief to affected residents and highlights the effectiveness of coordinated intelligence-led response operations.
“We commend all the teams involved in capturing the suspect, who was handed over to police in Phoenix,” Naidoo added.
