POLICE in KwaZulu-Natal arrested a 29-year-old foreign national after seizing various drugs valued at nearly R80,000 during a targeted operation in Richards Bay.
The suspect was caught attempting to dispose of evidence.
The operation was held by the KZN Provincial Drugs and Firearms Unit and the Provincial Illicit and Counterfeit Unit.
Police received intelligence regarding a man dealing in drugs and proceeded to a block of flats in Richards Bay.
On seeing the police, the suspect allegedly threw a packet of drugs through a window.
The suspect was found inside the premises, and during the search police recovered 285 grams of CAT, 57 ecstasy tablets, 61 grams of crystal meth, one rock of cocaine, and five packets of CAT.
The recovered drugs are estimated to have a street value of almost R80 000.
An undisclosed amount of cash, believed to be the proceeds of crime, was also found in the suspect’s possession.
The suspect appeared in the Empangeni Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
