THE Naidoo family, Deven, Saranya and Stephanie, will attend the flag hoisting of the 43rd Thaipoosam Kavady at the Stri Muruga Kovil in Northcroft, Phoenix, today at 6pm. Thereafter, daily prayers will be observed at the temple at 6pm on weekdays, and 3pm on the weekend.

The temple’s chariot procession will be held on January 24 at 3pm.

Temples throughout the country will observe Thaipoosam Kavady on February 1.

Thaipoosam is a vibrant Hindu festival honouring Lord Murugan, celebrated on the full moon of the month of Thai, where devotees carry decorated kavadis, and undergo acts of penance like skin piercings as thanks or vows, symbolising the victory of good over evil and divine strength.
