A FATHER of three and grandfather of 10 from KwaZulu-Natal has won more than R12 million in the LOTTO PLUS 2 jackpot from Draw 2610 held on January 10 with just a R20 wager.

The winner, a pensioner who used the Quick Pick selection method, said he was unaware he had won such a significant amount until he verified his ticket at the local supermarket where it was purchased.

What started as a routine check quickly turned into a moment of overwhelming joy and disbelief.

“I didn’t know I had won so much money,” he shared.

“When I found out, I was very happy and could not believe it.”

After confirming his multi-million win, he was advised to visit the nearest Ithuba office in the KZN regional office. He said he kept his ticket safely tucked away in his wardrobe before claiming his prize.

With his winnings, he plans to renovate his home and ensure he and his family no longer struggle to afford necessities. However, beyond personal comfort, his greatest joy lies in securing a meaningful legacy for his family.

He shared that he was deeply comforted knowing that when the Lord called him home, he would leave something significant behind for his beloved grandchildren.

“They will never lack,” he said proudly, after winning R12.697.523.20.

“They will be able to go to school and have better opportunities in life.”

Charmaine Mabuza, Ithuba CEO, said: “Stories like these remind us of the profound impact the National Lottery can have on families across South Africa. We are truly moved by this gentleman’s selfless desire to secure his grandchildren’s future. We wish him continued health, happiness, and peace of mind as he begins this new chapter.”
