Emergency workers are on the scene of a serious two-truck accident, with major traffic disruptions and multiple injuries reported on the M7 heading towards the Bluff, at the N2 north on ramp.
According to ALS Paramedics Garrith Jamieson, the accident occurred just before 11 am, and there is a major spillage that the fire department is trying to contain.
"We are currently dealing with two occupants of one of the trucks who are severely entrapped," said spokesperson Garrith Jamieson.
The firefighters were also on site, using the Jaws of Life and other hydraulic equipment to cut the patients free.
Jamieson said traffic was at a standstill, stretching all the way back to Pinetown, with the entire route towards the Bluff blocked.
"I would advise all motorists to avoid this area at all costs. This is going to be an active scene for quite some time."
Paramedics extracted two patients from an overturned truck, who are suffering moderate to serious injuries.
Rescue teams also continued to work on the two who were still trapped in the truck facing towards the Bluff, while also dealing with the ongoing spillage.
Motorists are warned to avoid the route as emergency services continue their operations.
