A VIRAL video shows a dramatic altercation at an Engen garage, in Stanger Manor, where a bakkie driver repeatedly reverses into a parked Volkswagen Golf GTI, sparking a social media frenzy.

A black Volkswagen Golf 5 GTI was significantly damaged in the parking lot where the altercation took place over the weekend.

Video footage, which went viral on social media platforms on Sunday night, showed the driver of an Ashok Leyland Dosk repeatedly reversing into the Golf, whose occupants had boxed the small bakkie in, before making a hasty escape.

While the initial altercation was not caught on film, footage shows occupants from the Golf running towards the bakkie, before retreating as the bakkie started reversing into the car.

After reversing into the Golf three times, the bakkie driver makes a hasty escape, while men on the scene make another attempt at assaulting him through the window.

The incident is reportedly under investigation, although the South African Police Service has yet to release an official statement on the matter.

The incident created a social media frenzy, and many sided with the bakkie driver, who had been "unfairly" parked in by the Golf, and some viewed the small bakkie’s antics as a “David and Goliath” scenario.

The damage to the side of the Golf GTI appeared extensive.
