In a heart-wrenching scene synonymous with fear and helplessness, Rushna.Journey, a South African mother living in Dubai, recorded a TikTok video just hours ago as she gazed out her window at a residential building engulfed in flames.
The fire followed a series of alarming airstrikes reportedly originating from Iran, leaving residents shaken and the once-bustling streets eerily quiet.
Rushna, who has captured her TikTok followers' hearts with her candid content, stood with her hand on her head and looked through her window.
"Guys, just outside our window. Just outside our building. Look. The billowing smoke, the flames..."
She then turned the camera around, showing a mosque in front and plumes of smoke from a building on fire further away.
With emotions running high, Rushna’s young daughter appeared behind her and innocently asked: "What happened?"
"Guys it's a residential building," she said, her voice shaken.
With tears, Rushna then exhales. Her hand was still on her head.
"I'm scared guys," she confessed
Just a day prior, Rushna documented the first day of the airstrikes.
"The streets are empty guys. Empty, empty. I haven't seen it this time in a long (time)... The last time I saw it this empty was probably during the floods. Ya, we are just existing here. I heard a couple of jets... and I hear some sounds but... they are not sending out any news. It's really unnerving. But we are okay. Me and my girls are fine."
As the situation unfolds, Rushna, a make up artist formerly from Cape Town, faces the added strain of separation from her husband, who remains in Australia because flights were cancelled amid the turmoil.
"We stay and we pray."
