A MAN has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of an adult female in Durban North on Tuesday afternoon.

Kyle van Reenen, the general manager of Ensure Security, said they were alerted to a vehicle collision at the intersection of Adelaide Tambo Drive and Mackeurtan Avenue.

“We have a vehicle dedicated to Mackeurtan Avenue, who responded upon receiving information of the incident. Upon arrival, it was found that an adult female had sustained critical injuries after she was believed to have been struck by a light motor-vehicle at around 4pm. She was declared deceased by paramedics who arrived shortly thereafter on the scene.

“It was alleged that the driver of the vehicle fled from the scene. We obtained information and CCTV footage that assisted us with a description of the driver. A notice was shared on social media calling for witnesses to come forward. We received a few leads, and the information was passed on to the South African Police Service. We have been informed that an arrest was made on Tuesday evening,” he said.

According to reports, the man, believed to be 27-years-old, is expected to appear in court this week.
