Organisers of the Africa Golden Awards (AGA) announced the nominees for the 11th edition of the ceremony on March 5. Among them is Sewlall, who was nominated in the Top African Reality TV Personality category.
The Big Brother Mzansi housemate from Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, has gained attention this season for his strong performances in challenges and his growing popularity among viewers.
The Africa Golden Awards is a pan-African awards ceremony that recognises excellence across several fields, including entertainment, music, arts, culture, business, sport and social impact, etc.
Nominees come from across Africa, with dozens of categories honouring influential individuals and organisations.
According to the organisers, the Top African Reality TV Personality category celebrates contestants who made a lasting impression on audiences.
The category recognises personalities who create memorable moments on screen and keep viewers engaged across television and streaming platforms.
From viral clips to trending discussions on social media, nominees are often contestants who have managed to capture the attention of audiences across the continent.
Sewlall, who is also known by his nickname “Paprika” among fans, has become one of the standout personalities this season.
Inside the Big Brother Mzansi house, he has won multiple Head of House titles, giving him immunity from nomination and eviction during those weeks.
His performances in challenges, combined with several viral moments in the house, have helped him build a strong fan base who goes known #TeamPaprika.
According to the AGA website, the nomination process is largely driven by public submissions and fan support.
The winner of the category will receive a prize of $5,000 (about R83,000), while the contestant who receives the most overall votes across categories will take home $50,000 (about R835,000). And public voting is expected to open on March 20, 2026.
