ASHAY Sewlall, known as 'Paprika', has been evicted from Big Brother Mzansi, in a dramatic turn of events on Sunday night’s live show.

The 24-year-old contestant from Richards Bay, in KwaZulu-Natal, was sent home tonight (March 15), ending what had been one of the most talked-about journeys in the current season, themed Bazozwa.

His exit came as a surprise to many viewers, especially as he had recently been one of the most dominant players in the house.

Sewlall, affectionately known by his fans as “Paprika”, leaves the competition just weeks before the finale.

During his time in the Big Brother Mzansi house, Sewlall built a reputation as a strong competitor in both physical and mental challenges.

One of his biggest achievements was winning the Head of House (HoH) title three times in a row, which is a rare feat in the game. The position gave him immunity from nominations and eviction during those weeks, as well as leadership responsibilities in the house.

As HoH, he was responsible for guiding housemates during the weekly wager tasks, where successful performances often meant better food, luxuries and a bigger shopping budget for everyone.

Ashay also performed well in several sponsored and daily challenges during the season.

Earlier in the competition, he won the Chillers Punch design challenge and walked away with R5,000 after impressing judges with a creative spicy flavour concept inspired by his cultural background.

He later claimed R3,000 during a Berocca quiz challenge, which took place on his 25th birthday.

More recently, he won the King Pie sponsored challenge, earning R7,500 after completing a demanding obstacle course faster than his fellow contestants.

Sewlall  also collected smaller rewards from team-based tasks and other daily challenges.

By the time of his eviction, Sewlall had accumulated about R19,750 in prize money from various challenges and sponsored tasks.

In the Big Brother Mzansi format, housemates keep the money they win during tasks even if they do not win the overall competition.

The grand prize for the season remains R2 million for the eventual winner.

Despite leaving the competition, Sewlall’s popularity continues to grow outside the show.

He was recently nominated for Top African Reality TV Personality at the Africa Golden Awards, recognising his strong presence on screen and his growing fan base.

While his journey in the Big Brother house has come to an end, Sewlall leaves with several achievements, prize money, and a large following of supporters who watched his rise during the season.
