After weeks of drama, strategy and intense voting, Big Brother Mzansi (BBM) season 6 has finally crowned its winner: Liyema “Liema” Pantsi.
The 24-year-old singer from King William’s Town in the Eastern Cape, walked away with the R2 million grand prize after beating runner-up Thandeka in a closely contested final vote during Sunday night’s live finale.
The season themed "Bazozwa" wrapped up with an emotional ending as Pantsi’s name was announced as the champion.
Pantsi first appeared on BBM in season 4 (S’ya Moshsa) in 2024. During that season, she made headlines when she chose to take R250,000 and voluntarily leave the game instead of continuing to compete for the main prize.
This time around, she returned with a different mindset. Determined to stay until the end, Pantsi remained focused throughout the competition and ultimately secured the R2 million prize.
Before entering the show, Pantsi was a student and part-time bartender in the Eastern Cape.
She is also an R&B singer and songwriter who has already built a following on music platforms such as Spotify, Boomplay and Audiomack. Her songs have accumulated more than 20,000 streams, and fans have praised both her vocal talent and her authentic personality.
Throughout the season, Pantsi made it clear she was focused on the game.
“I’m not here for love,” she said earlier in the show, choosing to stay away from romance and concentrate on strategy.
During the season she survived multiple nominations and also won important tasks, including Head of House and wager challenges, which strengthened her position in the house.
The live finale, which was hosted in Sandton last night, saw several finalists leave the house one by one.
Trixie, Que, Didi and Bravo B were evicted during the final stages of the show, leaving Liema and Thandeka as the last two standing.
After the final votes were counted, Pantsi was officially announced as the winner.
Pantsi’s supporters, who call themselves the “Lilies” (nickname for Liema), played a major role in the final outcome. Fans rallied behind her throughout the competition, voting in large numbers and showing their support on social media.
