TEN Durban bands will perform at a free live tribute concert at the Truro Prevocational School in Bayview on April 5, to honour late musicians who lent their talents to community upliftment.

The event will start with a family entertainment programme at 9am, including snacks and party packs for all attending children. The live music will start at 12pm.

The performing bands are Upbeat, Andrew Bros, The Alan Family Band, Evil Eye, The Magnets, Abraxas, Open Invitation, Naked Truth, Mike and the Mechanics, and Pitch Black.

Each band will perform hits from as far back as the '60s as a tribute to all the late musicians from Chatsworth and surrounding areas, some of whom were members of the performing bands.

Residents from the Aryan Benevolent Homes (ABH) will be special guests at the concert and will be treated to lunch.

One of the organisers, Sagie Pather, said the event would pay tribute to late musicians, including the late original members of The Magnets: Morgan Poongavanam  AKA Chicken (drummer), Jonny Soon (vocalist) and Lulu Pillay (lead guitarist),  as well as Alan Chetty, Tino Reddy, and Siva.
