The Road Traffic Inspectorate's no-nonsense approach to drunk driving continues over the Easter weekend.

On its Facebook page, the KZN Department of Transport mentioned that among those arrested for drunk driving in Pietermaritzburg alone were a public prosecutor, a retired SAPS member, a firefighter, and an electrical engineer.

"Arrest all of them. We don't need motorists driving under the influence of alcohol," said Siboniso Duma, the MEC for Transport and Human Settlements.

Here is a list of arrests over the Easter period thus far, as the department posted it.

- In Margate, a man was stopped and asked RTI's "famous question" NenzaniLaEzweni? (What are you doing in the country?) but in Afrikaans. The man responded in Afrikaans, which translated to English to: "I am Boer, and I own a farm. I will give you a sheep to show you my appreciation. Let me go to my wife, my friend."

- A motorist was arrested for driving from Pinetown to Pietermaritzburg with his 12-year-old daughter, while he was under the influence of alcohol.

- A motorist arrested in front of a senior department member. "He keeps on asking for forgiveness. As a muscle man with big arms, RTI is forced to use handcuffs for two people on him," posted RTI.

- A motorist faced other charges such as resisting arrest and carrying a firearm, while under the influence of alcohol.

- A Zimbabwean national was arrested for drunk driving. He failed to produce his documents and a driver's licence.

Then perhaps it was this post that stole the show, as RTI continues to bring humour in its posts.

"Dramatic scenes plays out in Pietermaritzburg. Duma has announced that a Zimbabwean National has been arrested by RTI and Umsunduzi Traffic after his failed attempt to run away from the famous international question #NenzaniLaEzweni.

"This Zimbabwean national drove into a roadblock and attempted to disappear into thin air. RTI and Umsunduzi Traffic officers quickly chased and cornered him. He was found in possession of a Zimbabwean driver's licence and a Malawian photocopy of a passport.

"In KZN we have the International Nelson Mandela Marathon and in Zimbabwe they should consider staging the Robert Mugabe Marathon. If this Zimbabwean man were to take part in the Robert Mugabe Marathon after his deportation, RTI would also go and take part as well. Just to chase him in his home country."
