The online article, " Isipingo pupil denied school admission amid allegations of unfair practices," refers.

The article presents a one-sided account that does not accurately reflect the realities and procedures governing admissions at Isipingo Secondary School.

As a school we have never denied any pupil a place at our institution. Our placements are conducted in line with the policies of the Department of Education which require schools to adhere to capacity limits and prescribed procedures.

The boy’s father claimed that he was turned away from the school, however, this alone is under dispute as he has no proof that he came to school at all. He should therefore refrain from accusing the principal of being dismissive as he had no interactions with her until today.

The pupil in question has since been offered placement and the parent met the school officials for the first time today to address the matter. The parent could not offer an explanation as to why the district officials were not consulted or as to why he did not come to school in February and March.

The pupil’s former school principal also confirmed that all pupils were told to apply to high schools in July 2025. We as a school do not reserve places for pupils from the district.

We operate on a first come basis as is the department policy and we encourage applications for admissions to be done before the end of the previous academic year. We cannot be giving admission the entire year.

The article also relied on unverified claims from a former pupil to suggest a recurring pattern without presenting factual evidence from the school or the department.

This clearly undermines the credibility of the reporting and unfairly damages the reputation of our school.
