A Verulam businessman who was reported missing was found dead, with a gunshot wound to head, on Tuesday morning.
Navin Shurren, 54, of Trenance Park was found deceased on Estuary Drive in Riverview at about 6:30am.
Prem Balram, the head of Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa), said Shurren was last seen leaving a petrol station driving a white Chevrolet Utility van on Monday at about 10:30pm.
He said his vehicle has not been located.
Balram said his members were dispatched to the scene following reports of an unresponsive male this morning.
He said on arrival, reaction officers found Shurren’s body on an embankment.
“Members of the public discovered the body while proceeding to work and alerted first responders. He was dressed in a cream jacket and navy blue pants. Upon assessment, he was unresponsive and had sustained a gunshot wound to the head. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unknown at this stage.”
