SASSA reminds social grant beneficiaries to complete their annual life certification to prevent payment disruptions.
The agency encourages the use of its digital platform for a hassle-free process.
The agency said beneficiaries who are able to access digital services should make use of its self-service platform to streamline the process and reduce the need for in-person visits.
“Beneficiaries who are able to use the self-service portal are encouraged to complete their life certification annually,” SASSA said.
The agency stressed that while annual certification is encouraged for all capable users, some beneficiaries may be flagged for immediate verification and must comply within a specified timeframe.
“However, where a beneficiary is specifically identified by SASSA for immediate e-Life Certification, the beneficiary is required to comply within the stipulated timeframe, irrespective of their grant type or date of birth,” said SASSA.
SASSA cautioned that delays in responding to such requests could lead to interruptions in grant payments, urging recipients to act swiftly and ensure their personal information remains current.
“To avoid payment disruption, beneficiaries are urged to respond promptly to life certification requests and ensure their information is up to date.”
The agency also promoted its digital alternative, encouraging recipients to avoid long queues at offices by using the online system.
“Avoid queues, do your life certification from anywhere at any time,” SASSA said.
It added that “e-Life Certification is a self-service digital platform that allows beneficiaries to complete their life certification from the comfort of their homes,” and encouraged those with access to the necessary technology to make use of the service.
The move forms part of SASSA’s broader push to modernise services and improve efficiency, while ensuring that grants are paid to the correct recipients.
