A tow truck driver was shot and killed in Phoenix on Friday afternoon.
Gareth Naidoo, spokesperson for KZN VIP, said the man was shot while seated in his vehicle near a petrol station along the Phoenix Highway.
"According to initial reports, two unidentified male suspects approached the tow truck and opened fire, striking the driver. They thereafter fled on foot toward Rucklen Place. KZN VIP Medics, together with security teams, responded to the scene."
He said that upon arrival, emergency personnel found the victim seated in the driver’s seat.
"He was declared deceased on the scene. Members of the South African Police Service attended the scene and launched an investigation into the fatal shooting. The motive for the attack remains unknown at this stage."
