The community of Newark is set to bid farewell to seven family members, whose tragic abduction and brutal murder has sent shockwaves throughout the country.

The mass funeral for Alan and Sandy Monswamy, along with their children Kraidon and Shamarie, plus relatives Cliffy Padayachee, Mooniamma Padayachee, and Mariamma Appanah, will be held today at the Stanger High School Sports Ground from 9am to noon. Following the service, the families will proceed to the Stanger Crematorium at 1.30pm.

This incident occurred on Tuesday night when the family was allegedly kidnapped from their home. According to police reports, they were taken to Melmoth before being killed.

In a statement from the Office of the Provincial Commissioner, it said that reports indicated a domestic helper, who worked for the victims, arrived at her place of work on Wednesday morning to find the house broken into, with seven people and a vehicle missing.

Three suspects have since been arrested and are expected to appear in the KwaDukuza Magistrate's Court this Tuesday.

The murders have ignited a wave of grief and rage, prompting many to voice their sympathies and outrage on social media.
