The Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, Thamsanqa Ntuli, attended today's court proceedings for three suspects accused of kidnapping and killing seven family members from Newark.
Ntuli sat in the public gallery with family and friends at the KwaDukuza Magistrate's Court, awaiting the suspects' appearance.
On Sunday, he delivered a touching speech at the funeral of Alan and Sandy Monswamy, their children Kraidon and Shamarie, and relatives Cliffy Padayachee, Mooniamma Padayachee, and Mariamma Appanah at the Stanger High School’s sports ground. At the funeral he said he hoped to attend court on Tuesday.

The victims had allegedly been abducted from their home in Newark earlier in the week. Their bodies were later discovered in a secluded area near Melmoth.
Following an intensive investigation by various law enforcement units, three suspects, aged 21, 26 and 28, were arrested last Wednesday afternoon.
