A woman, who was allegedly due to testify in a kidnapping and murder trial on Monday, was shot dead in her car near Longacres Drive in Amanzimtoti.

Andre Beetge, a community leader and ward councillor in Amanzimtoti, said the woman was allegedly scheduled to testify in a case concerning the abduction and murder of her son a few years ago. He said several shots were fired at the woman.

“We trust that the exact details of the incident will soon be revealed and that her soul may rest in peace,” he said.

Garrith Jamieson, ALS Paramedics spokesperson, said paramedics were shown to a vehicle where the driver, a woman believed to be in her 50s, had sustained fatal gunshot wounds to her upper body.

“Paramedics assessed the patient; however, there was nothing more they could do for her and she was declared deceased on the scene,” said Jamieson.
