Ritikka Ramkissoon has graduated cum laude with a bachelor of social sciences in psychology and criminology and forensic studies at UKN, crediting her family's support for her success.

As she pursues her honours degree, she shares insights on resilience and the importance of long-term goals.

Raised in a close-knit family alongside her parents and sister, Ramkissoon credits her success to the strong foundation of support that has guided her throughout her studies.

“Family plays a vital role in my life as I am a family-orientated individual,” she shared.

Throughout her degree, Ramkissoon’s support system remained a constant source of motivation. From small gestures like checking in after exams to late-night study companionship and preparing her favourite meals, her family’s encouragement made a meaningful difference.

“They created a sense of stability that kept me motivated and on track."

Her hard work was recognised through numerous accolades, including three Dean’s Commendations, two Certificates of Merit, and ultimately graduating cum laude.

In addition, she was awarded a SASSETA-funded scholarship that supported her throughout her undergraduate studies.

Reflecting on her achievements, Ramkissoon described the moment as deeply rewarding.

“It is a proud moment not only for me but for my family as well,” she said.

“These accomplishments represent growth and perseverance through difficult circumstances. They remind me that consistency and determination matter, even when progress is not immediately visible.”

Currently pursuing her honours degree, Ramkissoon plans to continue expanding her knowledge and making meaningful contributions within the field.

She encourages fellow students to stay focused on their long-term goals.

“Think of your goals as achieved by a future version of yourself and work towards becoming that person. Every challenge brings you closer to that vision,” she advised.
