A man was stabbed five times after an argument over chicken.
The incident escalated into a violent altercation in Umkomaas, resulting in a man's arrest for attempted murder after he allegedly stabbed a friend.
It has been alleged a group of friends had been consuming alcohol at a residence at approximately 9pm when they decided to purchase food from a fast-food local outlet.
The group reportedly bought a five-piece chicken meal before returning home.
Upon their return, an argument broke out after the man who purchased the meal allegedly discovered that the suspect had eaten three pieces of chicken instead of the one piece he was expected to consume.
The dispute reportedly escalated, but the group later went out again and purchased a full chicken before returning to the residence.
Police said the man who bought the chicken then instructed the suspect not to eat any more chicken, allegedly reminding him that he had already consumed three pieces earlier in the evening.
A physical altercation subsequently broke out between the two men.
It is alleged that the suspect then went to his room, returned armed with a knife, and stabbed the victim five times. The injured man was transported to the hospital for medical treatment.
Members of the Umkomaas Serious and Violent Crimes unit are investigating a case of attempted murder.
The suspect was arrested immediately following the incident.
