The official payment schedule for social grants for June 2026, with disbursements, are set to begin in the first week of the month, according to the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa).

The agency said the staggered payment system remained in place to reduce pressure on payment points, retailers and ATMs, and to ensure smoother access for beneficiaries nationwide.

June 2026 payment schedule

  • Older Person’s Grant: Tuesday, June 2, 2026
  • Disability Grant: Wednesday, June 3, 2026
  • Children’s Grants: Thursday, June 4, 2026

Sassa emphasised that beneficiaries do not need to withdraw funds immediately after payment, as money remained safely in accounts once deposited.

“Sassa reiterates its commitment to paying social grants to eligible beneficiaries at the right time and appeals to all beneficiaries who may have not received their grants on these specified dates to visit their nearest SASSA local office for assistance,” the agency said.

  • War Veterans Grant: R2,420
  • Foster Child Grant: R1,290
  • Child Support Grant and Grant-in-Aid: R580

Sassa also urged beneficiaries to ensure their banking details are correct and up to date to avoid unnecessary delays in receiving payments.

Meanwhile, the Postbank has intensified its migration programme for beneficiaries still using Sassa Gold Cards, warning that the cards will be phased out by August 31, 2026.

Postbank Chief Commercial Officer Thamsanqa Cele said the transition formed part of a final effort to modernise and secure the social grant payment system.

“We are intensifying the final stages of the Sassa Gold Cards replacement process. This is a direct call to action for customers who have not yet migrated, please act as soon as possible and treat this invitation with the seriousness it deserves,” Cele said.
