The family of Isipingo taxi owner Krish Reddy, who was shot multiple times with AK47s in a drive-by shooting, has called for justice one year after his murder.
The father of seven was ambushed by gunmen near his home in Isipingo Hills on May 21, 2025.
His killing was suspected to be a taxi-related attack linked to rivalry in the taxi industry.
Reddy was the owner of Mastermind Taxis.
His daughter, Jenny Stranburg, told the POST on Friday that their family could not find closure as there had been no arrests.
“Yesterday was his death day. There are still no arrests or leads into who may have killed my father. It is as if his murder has just been brushed off. His death was in vain. There is no justice. He was the glue that held our family together. Without him, life has been tough and we are still struggling to cope with this death. We are calling on police to thoroughly investigate and bring his killers to book," said Stranburg.
On his death anniversary, his other daughter, Sharlet Singh, wrote a tribute to him on Facebook.
She wrote: “He did not deserve this. My father was murdered. Let that sentence sit with you. He was a man with a life, with people who loved him, with stories that he did not get to finish.
“Someone took all of that away and ripped it from our hands, from his future, from mine. I am tired of saying 'rest in peace' when there is no peace in how he left this world. I am tired of pretending that time will heal this. Time does not bring him back. Time does not hold me when I break down. Time does not erase the rage burning in my chest.
“He did not deserve to die like that. He deserved to grow old. To laugh more. To see the people he loved succeed. To live and yet here we are, forced to carry the weight of grief while still demanding answers, demanding accountability, demanding justice. Because silence protects the guilty. But I will not be silent.
“Behind every headline is a family torn apart. Behind every statistic is someone like my father and someone like me, left behind. I will not stop until there is justice for my dad, for my family, for me."
Aiden David, the chairperson of the eThekwini district policing board, who was at the scene when Reddy was killed, told the POST on Friday that no arrests were made.
