The grandmother of murdered Jayden-Lee Meek has thrown her full support behind her daughter Tiffany, who has been accused of his murder, saying that she was framed.
Tiffany's mother, Debbie Dunn, expressed her disappointment with the investigation of her grandson’s case and the prosecution of her daughter in a TikTok video.
She posted the video on Monday evening, hours after her daughter’s first appearance in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court, charged with Jayden's murder.
Jayden was last seen on May 13, 2025. His body was found the following morning.
His mother Tiffany, was arrested Friday, July 11.
Dunn said that as a family, they had attended the court case; however, her daughter’s appearance was “hush hush” and “they (alluding to the State) made sure we were not present. All just to further discredit her [Tiffany]”.
The video, which has since gone viral, had over 1,000 reposts, 540 likes, and over 34,000 views.
In the video, Dunn has her wording scripted as she starts reading, she said: “It is with great sadness that I have to make this video. I want to express how deeply disappointed we are at the way my grandson’s case is being investigated and how my daughter is being prosecuted for a crime she did not commit. Our attorney, together with Tiffany’s family, friends, and work colleagues, were at the court since 8.30 this morning.”
During her appearance, Meek was asked by the magistrate if she had a legal representative, and she stated her attorney was supposed to be present.
Jayden-Lee’s grandmother further claimed in her video that they were instructed to wait outside the office where the first appearances were processed until a list was drafted, and a security guard would inform them of the court where Meek would be appearing.

“Our attorney even went into the prosecutors office and was rudely spoken to and told that he won’t be helped. He must wait outside until the matter has been processed. It is so clear that the police, prosecutors, and activists were working together to ensure that Tiffany was not represented in court on her first appearance and not have her family and friends inside the court to give her love and support,” she said.
“We hope that she will be given a fair bail hearing and trial as we have lost faith and hope in the criminal system. None of us, the activists all saw us, were present but denied access under false pretenses to be in the court. That’s all I have to say for now,” Dunn concluded.
Meek faces charges of murder, crimen injuria, attempting to defeat or obstruct the course of justice, and defeating or obstructing the administration of justice.
She is expected back in court on Friday, July 18, for bail information and her attorney to come on record.
