POLICE have confirmed that they have arrested four men for the murder, robbery and kidnapping of Muhammed Muzaffar Saib, the Phoenix Community Policing Forum member who was missing and found stabbed to death yesterday.

“Phoenix police arrested four suspects on charges of murder, robbery and kidnapping. This after a 24-year-old man was reported missing on Tuesday. Later on Tuesday, police recovered the victim's vehicle abandoned in the Bhambayi area. Preliminary investigations indicated that a known suspect was seen driving the abandoned vehicle. The suspect was tracked down by police and brought in for questioning,” said KZN police spokesperson Captain Ntathu Ndlovu.

Police arrested three more suspects yesterday, Ndlovu added.

Saib, who worked as an e-hailing driver, was found stabbed to death and dumped in a stream at a park near his home in Whetstone, two days after he went missing.

The 25-year-old stopped all communication with his family after he left his girlfriend’s residence at 8pm on Monday night. His body was found by search teams on Wednesday with multiple stab wounds to his chest, back and neck.

A report from KZN VIP Protection and Security stated that Saib's vehicle was found in Bhambayi with the registration plates removed. The report also stated that community members, together with security partners, were instrumental in search operations, which led them to two men, who led police and the search teams to Saib’s body in a stream at the park at the Rydalvale Grounds.

Saib's body was found about 200 metres away from his home.
