The South African Weather Service (Saws) has issued multiple impact-based weather alerts, including one for disruptive snow in the Eastern Cape on Friday.
Saws said disruptive snow is expected over the north-eastern parts of the Eastern Cape. For this, a Yellow Level 1 warning has been issued for possible loss of livestock.
"This will also lead to closure of passes and traffic disruptions due to snow and icy roads," the forecaster warned.
Meanwhile, the province will be partly cloudy and cool to cold, but very cold in the north with isolated morning showers and rain expected in the extreme north-east, with snowfall on the mountains peaks.
A Yellow Level 4 warning has been issued for disruptive rainfall in the extreme western parts of the Western Cape.
"This will lead to flooding of roads and danger to life due to fast-flowing streams over low-lying bridges," the forecaster warned.
A Yellow Level 2 warning has been issued for damaging winds leading to difficulty in navigation at sea in areas between Saldanha Bay and Cape Agulhas as well as between Plettenberg Bay and East London.
Saws has also issued a Yellow Level 2 warning for damaging winds between Plett and East London.
Saws has also issued a warning that extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the Ba-Phalaborwa local municipality in Limpopo.
"The public and small stock farmers are advised that very cold, wet and windy conditions are expected over the western and central interior of the Western Cape as well as over the southern parts of Namakwa (Northern Cape) and the eastern interior of the Western Cape. while to the western escarpment of Namakwa on Saturday into Sunday," Saws warned.
