Mitchell’s Plain Football and Sports Club’s First Team.
Mitchell’s Plain Football and Sports Club has received a much-needed cash injection of R22 400 from the Mayoral Fund towards kit for their junior and senior teams.
Established in 2019 and affiliated to Portland-based Mitchell’s Plain Football District, the club restarted in 2022, following the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.
It now has more than 145 junior and 45 senior members, ranging from under-6 to under-19 as well two senior teams.
Club secretary Wayne Meyers and fellow executive members, supported by ward councillor Joan Woodman, submitted an appeal for assistance to the Mayoral Fund and were duly rewarded.
“Our aim is to promote and grow our kids in a positive mindset on and off the field,” said Meyers, thanking all who supported the club.
Junior training sessions take place at Woodville Primary School on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 4.30pm to 5.30pm. Seniors train from 6pm to 7pm. Call 078 887 0473.
