It’s one of the biggest sporting events in the golfing world this week, as The Masters tees off at Augusta National Golf Club. This week we look at my picks for the week and also how to get around this tricky layout.

The Masters has always been a low-scoring golf tournament where the greens have been the most challenging for the best golfers in the world. The key to good putting is the preparation weeks or months before playing this course.

Getting knowledge from past champions and trusting your stroke is the remedy for making putts at the Masters. It’s a tournament which is the ultimate goal for these players, and coming in with good form will certainly play a factor.

Rory McIlroy, the defending champion, comes in with a past back injury, but he is always a threat to get the job done. The one who is having a great year and made a huge impact in South Africa is Bryson DeChambeau. He’s a people’s person and, if his putter is strong for the week, he will get the win.

My picks for the Masters 2026 are:

  • Rory McIlroy
  • Bryson DeChambeau
  • Patrick Reed
  • Viktor Hovland
  • Ludvig Åberg
  • Jon Rahm

Players who will definitely feature and can also get the job done on the Sunday final stretch are Collin Morikawa, Scottie Scheffler, and JJ Spaun.

I have gone with the above players as they have shown good form in the past weeks and, mentally, they could hold a good four days of golf together. It’s a great watch for the golfing world and we can all learn and gain some great tips from bearing witness to the greatest players take on The Masters.

The next time you have a tournament coming up, add in the extra preparation to your greens work, and you will see a major difference in confidence and scoring.

Catch you on the fairways!
