Proteas captain Rassie van der Dussen lost his first toss in the ongoing Tri-Nations series in Zimbabwe, as New Zealand opted to bowl first at the Harare Sports Club on Tuesday.
Despite having lost the toss, Van der Dussen highlighted that the Proteas would have opted to bat first anyway as they look to challenge themselves in setting the score, a feat they have not yet done in the ongoing series.
The Proteas lost against the Black Caps last week and will be looking to level the score heading into the final of the series, which will be against the same opponent later this week.
The Proteas have opted to go with three spinners in today's contest as leg-spinner Nqaba Peter, George Linde and Senuran Muthusamy will play in the same starting XI for the first time this series.
With the spot in the final already confirmed, coach Shukri Conrad has opted to rest fast bowlers Lungi Ngidi, Nandre Burger and Corbin Bosch as Kwena Maphaka and Gerald Coetzee are set to lead the bowling attack on Tuesday.
Conrad and the management have also made modifications in the batting order as Lhuan-dre Pretorius, who opened the batting in the series, has been shifted down the order to No 5 while Van der Dussen is set to open the batting with Hendricks.
Rubin Hermann has been moved from No 4 to No 3, while Dewald Brevis is set to take the No 4 spot in the batting order.
