The addition of Keshav Maharaj back into the Hollywood Bets Dolphins team is a positive reinforcement for the final against Goldrush Boland on Sunday.
Maharaj’s leadership and technical experience will “definitely” come in handy as they square off against Boland in Boland, Captain Prenelen Subrayen said.
Maharaj availed himself for their nerve-wrecking clash against the Titans on Wednesday, which surprisingly earned them a seat in the final. The Dolphins beat the Titans by 65 runs at Kingsmead to qualify for the final.
Maharaj put up his usual clinical performance with the ball and in the field, claiming 3-37 in his 10 overs. He also put up 25 runs to the Dolphins 228 total against the Titans.
The Proteas spinner had recently returned home from Pakistan where they played the ICC Champions Trophy, and before that, the SA20 League in South Africa.
No doubt, the 35-year-old spinner has had a jammed packed calendar since the start of the year, but no doubt remained in the zone.
“It will all depend on whether we bat or bowl first and the conditions. But definitely, having a player like Keshav Maharaj is something that we are looking forward to because he does add to the armory of the team in the batting and bowling departments.
“As well as from a leadership point of view, just having someone like him adds to the team. But yes, conditions depend, I think whatever the game requires on the day, I think our team is made up of that,” Subrayen said.
The Dolphins did not have the best start to the CSA one day cup but with a change in performance and a little luck in the form of a Warrior’s penalty, the Dolphins have now found themselves in a position to add some silverware to their cabinet.
Subrayen said they do not want to make any drastic changes to their strategy or mechanics since they started winning.
“There’s a lot of momentum taken from game to game but I think the process stays the same as we did in the first game when we started the winning streak. The process still remains the same now but there is a lot of excitement to go play the final in Cape Town,” the Dolphins Captain said.
