Proteas Women Captain Laura Wolvaardt says she'd like to advocate for the inception of a domestic women's league.
Wolvaardt thinks having a domestic women's league, like the SA20, will go a long way in developing the game, citing Australia, India and England as examples.
This comes after their six-wicket victory over Ireland on Friday Night, delivering a whitewash ODI series with a fairly youthful squad.
The start of the SA20 league means women's cricket would have to take a back seat for a while but Wolvaardt wants more game time for her colleagues.
"If you look at the countries doing well like India, Australia and England, they've all had a league for a couple years now. We just need to play more cricket and have more game time.
"In January, therefore cricket because the SA20 is on, which is a potential month of cricket if we had some kind of league.
"I'd really like yo advocate for one and I think it will be good for the country," Wolvaardt said.
Two stellar U19 squad members, Karabo Meso and Mianè Smit, played a good series against the Irish, earning their Captain's approval and providing reason why a domestic league would work wonders.
Meso and Smit are two examples of young talent that have succeeded when given opportunities and Wolvaardt thinks there are more out there. Besides advocating her colleagues' development, Wolvaardt scooped the player of the series award with her 255 run contribution over 3 matches.
Friday night's 100 not out was just the icing on top of a season filled with composure and virtuous leadership displays with the bat and out on the field.
Wolvaardt said they managed to find a good balance between maintaining a core team and rotating youngsters in the squad.
"Karabo has been so good. Her hands are really good behind the stumps. I'm very pleased that she got some games in and had an excellent match the game before. She had a bit of a bat in this game so that's only going to help her in the future.
"Mianè also played really well and is that sort of solid all-rounder and I'm also glad she got an opportunity to bat," the Captain added.
