The Proteas have named three debutants in the series opener against Pakistan in Faisalabad on Tuesday, after the visitors' lost the toss and were asked to bat.
Titans duo Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Donovan Ferreira along with Warriors batter Sinethemba Qeshile will play their first ODI for the Proteas.
The trio have all previously played two T20Is, but have yet to feature in the longer format.
The Proteas were forced to make a late change after middle-order batter Dewald Brevis was ruled out with a shoulder injury earlier on Tuesday morning.
The series opener will though see Quinton de Dock return to the Proteas ODI line-up for the first time since the 2023 World Cup semi-final against Australia in Kolkata.
De Kock's experience will be a major factor in an ODI batting line-up that is missing regulars Temba Bavuma, Aiden Markram, Ryan Rickleton, Tristan Stubbs and Rassie van der Dussen.
"It looks a bit dry and we have heard that the dew comes in later so we will have to assess in the first ten overs and then take it from there," Breetzke said.
"We have taken a lot of lessons from the T20I series but we have done well in the format in the past few months and we will take confidence from that.
"We have three debuts - Pretorius, Ferreira and Qeshile come into the side. We have two spinners in Fortuin and Linde."
