England international Owen Farrell will be among a host of international stars in the Saracens team set to face the Sharks in a highly anticipated friendly in Durban on Friday, September 5.

The clash between the London giants and their South African partners will serve as a warm-up ahead of the United Rugby Championship season and will act as the curtain-raiser to the Currie Cup fixture between the Sharks XV and the Pumas.

More than just a match, the encounter provides an invaluable opportunity for both squads to sharpen their systems, test combinations, and build momentum heading into the new campaign.

However, the tour extends beyond the 80 minutes of rugby. Saracens and the Sharks will collaborate throughout the week across various aspects of the game — from player development to high-performance strategies — underlining their shared ambition to remain at the forefront of rugby innovation.

Off the field, the partnership also carries strong commercial and cultural significance. Both teams will participate in community-focused initiatives, highlighting their commitment to using rugby as a force for positive social change.

“The opportunity to host Saracens here in Durban is one that we value immensely,” said Sharks CEO Shaun Bryans.“Not only does this match give our players a high-quality challenge as we prepare for the season, but it also deepens our relationship with Saracens — a club that shares our vision for innovation, excellence, and making a meaningful impact both on and off the field.”

Fans are encouraged to stay tuned to both Sharks and Saracens social media platforms for exclusive behind-the-scenes content throughout the tour.
