Lyle Foster has put injury concerns to rest ahead of Bafana Bafana’s decisive Fifa World Cup 2026 qualifier against Rwanda on Tuesday (kick-off 6pm).

The Burnley striker was spotted limping off the field during South Africa’s goalless draw with Zimbabwe on Friday, raising alarm over his availability for the fixture at Mbombela Stadium. However, Foster has confirmed he is fit and ready, providing a boost to Hugo Broos’ squad as they gear up for a crucial Group C showdown in their quest to reach the World Cup in the US, Canada and Mexico.

“I feel okay. It obviously wasn’t the result that we wanted against Zimbabwe. We believed we would get a different result, but it wasn’t to be,” said Foster.

“But I think it’s how it goes sometimes. I think we played really well, unfortunately. But I think the mood in the camp is still good. I think we know it’s still far from over.

“We play a significant game on Tuesday. If we achieve a good result there and everything aligns for us, it’s all about maintaining our focus.”

The spark of optimism in Foster’s words suggests that the spirit within the Bafana Bafana camp remains positive.

“There’s no reason to feel despondent. If there’s nothing to play for, or no chance at all, I’d understand, but there still wouldn’t be a reason to feel despondent. As I mentioned, there’s still so much to play for.”

Foster, twice denied by the post on Friday, has urged fans in Nelspruit to show up and rally behind the team in their must-win clash against Rwanda.

“The support has been great for Bafana as of late, and I just ask for the same sort of support that we had at Moses Mabhida Stadium and previous games as well,” he added.

“I think this is probably one of the most important games, so we ask that the supporters come out in numbers, and we’ll make sure to deliver and give a result.”

Meanwhile, Bafana Bafana will face the challenge without star defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi, who is under suspension following a red card against Zimbabwe. In response, coach Hugo Broos has drafted Thabo Moloisane into the squad as a replacement, ensuring that the team remains competitive heading into this vital match.

The Stellenbosch FC central defender is expected to bring fresh energy to the backline as they prepare to counter Rwanda’s strategies.
