With Mamelodi Sundowns now just four wins and a draw away from an eighth league title in a row, coach Miguel Cardoso has heaped praise on his troops but has cautioned that there is still plenty of work ahead.

Sundowns dispatched Cape Town City 2-0 on their home turf in their Betway Premiership clash over the weekend, as they remained 12 points ahead of Orlando Pirates.

Though Pirates have two games in hand as they’ve played 22 matches, they can now only reach a maximum of 73 points.

That means Sundowns, on 61 points with six games remaining, only need 13 points from a possible 18 on offer to secure the title. In fact, 12 points would almost certainly be enough as Sundowns have a goal difference of 41 to the 18 of Pirates.

Cardoso Emphasises Humility and Determination as Team Focuses on Remaining ‘Four Finals’

“The boys are really fighting for what they want so much, we really committed for every match and now it’s go for next one and next one and try to well try to get it. But we need to respect everybody because the next opponent will again be a very tough one,” Cardoso told SuperSport TV.

“I think we are a humble team, and humility is not a bad value, not too much if it’s too much of course it’s not proper but having it in the right sense, understanding step-by-step it’s how you make a career working hard.”

Cardoso went on to explain that his side would approach every league clash as a final, until the title is clinched.

“I’m a very proud coach, proud of the club where I work, proud of the family that supports this club or the values that we grow and also proud of the work of the boys, my staff.

“The staff around us but still a lot to fight, still a lot to fight. We have four finals to play let’s focus on the next one now.”
