Rwandan goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari has been told to leave Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs in order to get regular game time.

The 25-year-old Ntwari arrived at Chiefs from TS Galaxy ahead of the ongoing season, and was expected to nail down the number one jersey as Nasreddine Nabi attempted to make the club great again.

However, things have not gone so smoothly for Rwanda’s number one, and he has slid down the pecking order at the club.

After some early struggles, Nabi handed the gloves to Brandon Peterson and Bruce Bvuma, with the latter going on to cement his place as the club’s first choice between the sticks. Ntwari has not played competitive football for the club for six months.

Now, Ntwari has been urged to leave the club by former Free State Stars and AmaZulu goalkeeper Pelewe Delamogo, who hails from Democratic Republic of Congo.

"It is only fair that he leaves Chiefs during the next transfer window because it will not help for him to stay when he is not playing," Delamogo was quoted by KickOff on Wednesday.

"As a national team first-choice keeper, it is important that he should be playing at his club… Right now, he is in a tough situation because he is a foreign keeper sitting on the bench. So, I believe the boy needs to move.

"I know the money is good at Chiefs, but his career matters more and he needs to be playing.

"Since he is under contract, I hope there will be an offer that Chiefs accepts for him to leave," Delamogo concluded.

With Bvuma set to start again in Saturday’s Nedbank Cup final against Orlandi Pirates, it remains to be seen whether Nabi selects Petseson or Ntwari on the bench as the two have often been rotated.
