Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi said he will be expecting more of Congolese player Glody Lilepo next season.
Lilepo scored over the weekend in Chiefs’ 1-1 Betway Premiership draw with Sekhukhune United, at Peter Mokaba Stadium, in Polokwane.
It was a match in which Chiefs had just four shots on goal during the 90 minutes despite more possession with 54% of the ball.
The 27-year-old arrived at Naturena in January, and Nabi hinted that Lilepo’s fitness level was below par. Once the powerfully-built winger had more miles in his legs, he would be able to deliver better performances for Chiefs believed the coach.
“We feel that he’s a player that has not reached his potential because before coming he spent some months without playing due to difficulties with his previous team,” said Nabi.
“You can see that he’s a player that sometimes doesn’t finish games because his full potential is not reached yet. But we feel that once he reaches his full physical potential he will be used to his teammates, having a good pre-season he’s a player that can do more than what he does right now.”
Nabi believed that Lilepo could go on to be among the top scorers in the league next season, once he improves his fitness.
“This is a first step,” added Nabi.
“He’s a player that is a winger but those kinds of wingers that can easily finish the league with 10 goals. He’s a winger that likes to get inside, likes to score and he is looking all the time at opportunities to score or to make his teammates score.
“And we believe that he can even do more than that.”
