As the rumours continue to swirl around Kaizer Chiefs signing Clement Mzize, the Young Africans (Yanga) striker seems set on staying put with his Tanzanian club.

The 21-year-old had a top season for Yanga with 14 goals and five assists, and with Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi intent on beefing up his squad, the youngster was seen as a great addition.

Chiefs, of course, finished their second successive season outside the top eight in the league and will be expected for a vastly improved 2025/2026 season.

Mzize, though, revealed he is still under contract with Yanga.

Mzize’s Future at Young Africans: Exploring New Opportunities Amid Contract and Offers

“Of course, I want to explore new opportunities to grow my career. I’ve had wonderful moments at Young Africans, and as I’ve mentioned, I’m still under contract,” Mzize told the Guardian.

“So everything will be handled through my management, and we’ll see what happens next.”

While it seemed that Mzize won’t be going anywhere, he did hint that he may just be considering some offers.

“I’ve had a great season - winning the Premier League crown and scoring in the derby.

“It’s an immense feeling, and I’m grateful to be here. It’s true that I’ve received offers, but as a player, I can’t disclose them.

Though Chiefs did win their first piece of silverware in a decade when they beat Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup final last month, it did not hide the fact that the AmaKhosi had a disappointing season in the Betway Premiership.

Since the end of the season, the rumour mills have begun to swirl about high-profile transfers with Percy Tau even linked with a possible move to Chiefs.

Earlier this month, Chiefs confirmed that Ranga Chivaviro had left the club with immediate effect. The forward joined Chiefs in June 2023, and the club chose not to extend his two-year contract.
