Cape Town City drew 1-1 with Casric Stars in the final game of the Betway Premiership promotion-relegation match at Cape Town Stadium on Monday.

Jody Ahshene opened the scoring in just the second minute of the clash for Cape Town City.

Stars equalised just before the 20-minute mark through a Decide Chauke strike.

There would be no further change of score as the sides settled for a share of the points.

Orbit College Tops Promotion/Relegation Table

Orbit College ended top of the promotion/relegation table with eight points while City and Stars both could only manage three points. Both Stars and City were unable to manage to notch up a win over the four matches of the mini-league.

It marked a sombre end for City in particular after a campaign in which they finished 15th.

Coming into the playoffs, interim coach Diogo Peral knew the odds were stacked against his struggling side.

"More than the guys leaving, the guys that were suspended [played a huge role] – we had to change the entire backline, we played a different formation, and that's more due to the guys who were suspended," said Peral.

"We've got the left-back who's gone, Lorenzo suspended, the holding midfielder – so that changes your entire defence, but still at home you want to be better than this and get three points.

"But there were some challenges there with the changes, some new guys coming in, so more about the guys that were suspended than the guys that have left."
