Mamelodi Sundowns to freshen up before kicking off pre-season training at home

Mamelodi Sundowns will officially kick off their pre-season on July 21 and focus on honing their skills at home in South Africa.

Unlike previous seasons, Sundowns will refrain from international travel and have opted for a domestic pre-season. It will mark a fresh start for a team that endured a lengthy season filled with highs and lows.

Head coach Miguel Cardoso, who has been in charge for approximately six months, has faced intense scrutiny following a heart-wrenching defeat in the CAF Champions League final against Egyptian side Pyramids FC.

Despite the criticism, which notably raised questions about Cardoso's decision to omit captain Themba Zwane from both legs of the final, the Sundowns management has publicly reaffirmed its support for the coach.

Cardoso's tactical nous was on display during Sundowns' campaign in the FIFA Club World Cup, where the team competed fiercely against elite clubs including Ulsan HD, Borussia Dortmund, and Fluminense.
