Rushine De Reuck is reportedly back in the country looking for a new club after his loan spell with Israeli outfit Maccabi Petah Tikva did not go as planned.

The 29-year-old spent the second part of last season on loan in Israel after finding game time hard to come by at Mamelodi Sundowns.

Things did not go much better for De Reuck in Israel. He featured just four times as the club finished second from bottom in the Israeli Premier League and were relegated from the competition.

It’s expected that De Reuck won’t be short of suitors in the PSL, with newly promoted Durban City – formerly Maritzburg United – and Sekhukhune United both interested in his services.

It was in the colours of Maritzburg that the Bafana Bafana defender made a name for himself. During the 2017/18 season, he was at the heart of Maritzburg’s back four as the club reached the Nedbank Cup final, which they lost to Free State Stars in Cape Town.

In 2021, he earned a move to Mamelodi Sundowns and was initially seen as a key player as the club challenged for all honours. Unfortunately, his progress with the Brazilians was severely hampered by injuries, and he became a bit-part player.

Should he opt to move to Sekhukhune United, he will be reunited with Eric Tinkler, who was his head coach during his time at Maritzburg.

Another Sundowns defender who is available for free is Rivaldo Coetzee, who was recently released by the club when his contract expired.

“I spent a lot of years at Sundowns, successful years. I made brothers in that team and the club as a whole, and they will always be close to me. No matter where I go or play, I still wish them all the success,” the 28-year-old Coetzee, who made his international debut aged just 17, was quoted by FARPost.
