As Kaizer Chiefs kick off their 2025/26 campaign with a string of promising victories, one key figure continues to cast a significant influence over the squad — head coach Nasreddine Nabi.

Although currently absent from the touchline due to a family emergency following a serious car accident involving his wife, Nabi’s strategic presence is still deeply felt, shaping the team’s performances from afar.

Assistant coach Cedric Kaze, speaking on behalf of the technical team, has highlighted just how impactful Nabi’s leadership has remained during this difficult time.

Alongside fellow assistant Khalil Ben Youssef, Kaze has helped steer the Amakhosi to three consecutive wins in their opening Betway Premiership fixtures. But, according to him, the team’s early success is not only a result of their hands-on management — it is a reflection of Nabi’s pre-established strategic vision.

“Coach Nabi laid the foundation. What we’re seeing now is the execution of that work,” Kaze explained.

Despite the physical distance, Nabi remains intimately connected to daily operations, maintaining regular contact with the technical staff. He receives updates on training sessions, player performances, and squad morale, enabling him to continue offering tactical input tailored to the realities on the ground.

Kaze emphasised that the ongoing exchange of information is crucial in maintaining alignment with Nabi’s broader philosophy. The assistant coaches, having daily interaction with the players, provide detailed reports that allow Nabi to stay engaged and involved—even remotely.

“There’s a deep level of trust between us and the head coach,” said Kaze. “When we report back to him about the players’ energy and form, he takes that into account when offering guidance.”

This collaboration extends to matchday line-up decisions, further demonstrating the mutual respect and faith Nabi has in his coaching team.

Kaze believes that true leadership transcends physical presence, pointing to the Chiefs’ form as proof that collective execution can still thrive under trying circumstances.

“The boys are responding positively. That shows how strong the foundation is. Even without Nabi on the sidelines, his identity is embedded in the team.”

As the squad continues to embody the tactical and psychological principles instilled by their absent coach, there's a palpable sense of unity and resilience — a team not just playing for points, but for purpose.

With momentum building and Nabi’s influence anchoring their efforts, Kaizer Chiefs look poised for a compelling season. The harmony between the technical team and players, coupled with unwavering belief in the system, suggests that a challenging start off the field has only strengthened the club’s internal resolve.

This run is more than just a winning streak — it’s a testament to the power of trust, planning, and a shared vision that continues to guide Amakhosi forward.
