GAGASI FM's morning show co-host, Minenhle "Minnie" Ntuli, who's in the news for her bullying and poking a fellow cast member of the Real Housewives of Durban (RHOD) with a finger, will take a week off-air to deal with her anger management.
In a viral clip that is the source of Minnie being off-air, she's seen throwing a couch's cushion and getting up to confront RHOD's cast member Londie London and poking her forehead with her finger, causing her head to jerk back.
In response to the growing outrage, Gagasi FM released a statement affirming their stance against bullying and aggression.
In a statement, the radio station said, "We assure our listeners, clients, and partners that we are treating the matter with the seriousness and care it deserves."
Khulekani Shandu, Gagasi FM's spokesperson, confirmed that Ntuli will take a week-long break from the airwaves.
In the heat of all the flak, Ntuli, whose social media accounts were locked and some deactivated, released a statement, "I want to sincerely apologise to the affected cast members. I know my actions hurt others, and for that, I am truly sorry.
"I have reached out to them privately and publicly, and I remain committed to making amends, including having face-to-face conversations if and when they are open to it."
"I’ve also taken time to engage with Gagasi FM management regarding the negative attention my participation in the show has brought to the station. While my work on radio and my presence on the show are two separate platforms, both Gagasi FM and I agree that it is important I take accountability.
"The station has expressed disappointment in my behaviour, and together we’ve agreed that I will seek professional counselling to address my emotional responses."
Her actions have resulted in a petition to have her taken off-air and taken off the Real Housewives franchise.
The petition was started by a concerned viewer, Palesa Machaba, who lambasted Ntuli for her violent behaviour.
Many have condemned her for perpetuating a toxic culture in reality television, prompting a broader conversation about accountability in the entertainment industry.
Londie, whose real name is Londiwe Zulu, is pursuing legal action against Ntuli.
Many celebrities have condemned Ntuli's actions and expressed support for Londie, extolling her for her calmness and restraint whilst under attack.Socialite and influencer Sithelo Shozi said she will not listen to Gagasi FM again. Somizi, Lady Du, Winnie Ntshaba, Yaya Mavundla, and fellow RHOD cast member Jojo Robinson are some of the people who commended Londie for her composure.-Additional reporting by IOL
