Former international football star and A-lister David Beckham disrupted traffic while launching international whisky brand Haig Club in Joburg this week.
Beckham, who is the brand ambassador for the Scottish whisky, was in Woodmead and at Sandton’s News Cafe bars on Thursday night.
The single-grain whisky stands out from the rest with its signature blue square bottle and its partnership with Beckham, the former England, Manchester United and Real Madrid footballer.
The brand has been available in South Africa for a while, but its official launch was held last week to celebrate its arrival at stores.
News Cafe Woodmead was packed to the rafters and the deck was transformed into a cocktail bar with centre pieces and the brand colour of the whisky. The VIP area was the place to be where SA’s A-listers were cosying up.
Media personality Dineo Moeketsi was the hostess and looked stunning in red from top to bottom.
She was joined by DJ Zinhle who wore Prince of Wales checked pants paired with a white T-shirt, brown stilettos and a brown coat thrown over her shoulders.
TV personality Chris Jaftha and The Queen actor Loyiso Macdonald also showed their faces.
“We are extremely excited to be a launch partner of Haig Club Clubman in the South African market and we are honoured to host David Beckham at our launch events tonight,” News Cafe brand manager Varina Singh said.
“The Haig Club Clubman brand brings with it an energy and style that matches perfectly with our brand,” Singh said.
Internationally renowned DJ Black Coffee spun the decks, ensuring that nobody was glued to their chairs.
