For the first time, Air France is set to captivate the senses of its travellers with the introduction of its signature home fragrance, AF001.
AF001 is crafted in collaboration with renowned perfumer and artistic director of Maison Francis Kurkdjian, Francis Kurkdjian.
The fragrance will be rolled out this month at certain Air France lounges at Paris-Charles de Gaulle, as a welcome gesture at the start of a journey.
Guests arriving at the airport will discover the fragrance in the lobby, the lounge and the La Première suites.
Air France will roll out the fragrance to all other international destinations over the coming months.
The name AF001, pays homage to the iconic Concorde flights connecting New York and Paris during the late 1970s. It captures Air France’s rich history and the excitement associated with air travel.
Designed to evoke feelings of space, calm and light, AF001 is infused with a comforting musky aroma that offers a hint of mimosa sourced from the south of France, creating a vibrant and sunny invitation for relaxation.
“Created with hints of jasmine and rose, its delicate floral aura takes travellers on a real olfactory journey, capturing a specific moment in time,” read a statement from the airline.
According to Kurkdjian, the fragrance is more of a feeling, it’s about capturing a moment suspended in flight.
“It was the illusion of a ray of sunshine on the wings of an aircraft that inspired me to create this light, fresh, and comforting home fragrance.”
He added: “It had to give a feeling of wanderlust. The fragrance is very simple. There’s a musky tone which I combined with mimosa and then there are molecules from the scent of jasmine.
“The idea behind the Air France fragrance and particularly in the lounges, is for people to feel good and with the fragrance, they feel even better.”
The launch of AF001 is the culmination of over two years of development, representing not only a new sensory experience but also a celebration of the sophistication inherent in the French art of living.
Fabien Pelous, SVP of customer experience at Air France, commented: “The Air France travel experience now elevates all five senses: sight, with the haute couture uniforms of our staff, our cabin interiors and the meticulous design of our lounges, taste with the delicious dishes on the menu on board, touch with the soft fabrics of our seats, sound with our playlists on board and now smell with this prestigious signature fragrance.”
